农历新年，基本上希望爸爸妈妈开心。

• 海地。7级大地震使首都太子港等地化为一片废墟，据估计，受灾人数达300万，死亡人数可能超过10万，当地参议员更估计有50万人罹难。数百万灾民缺水缺粮缺电，废墟中尸横遍地。
• 医疗。多数医院震毁了，没有足够容纳空间，还有很多伤者躺在街上。
  位于太子港的多家医院在地震中倒塌，仅有一家阿根廷人运营的医院勉强正常运作。院方表示，医院已经超负荷运转，难以应付如此多的伤员。目前有800多名伤员在该医院接受治疗。
• 卫生。太子港市中心的战神广场彷佛变成了一个巨型露天难民营，灾民只能从公共水池中舀不干净的池水解渴，帐篷布满灰尘，到处散发着尿臭，炎热的天气使味道更为难闻。许多人全身不是污渍便是伤痕，还有人躺在地上惨呼。
  英国广播公司记者走访了一家医院，他看见约一百具遗体躺在地上，灾民们就睡在尸体旁边。
• 儿童。地震可能对200万名海地儿童造成终身精神创伤。他们表示，有些儿童在死尸堆中过夜，而且灾后大批孤儿涌现，他们可能要被迫独自面对肉体及精神伤害。
• 食粮。数以万计的生还者在户外过夜，由于食物短缺、食水不洁，能否熬到救援物资到位，尚是未知数。
  大规模的国际援助已在灾后展开，第一批数千吨包括食品、饮用水、医疗用品和帐篷等救援物资已经运抵海地，但这些物资对于流落街头的数百万人来说还是杯水车薪。仅有的救援物资引发了灾民争抢，产生了一些小规模的冲突。不少人只得依靠废墟中的食品艰难度日。

海地7.3级强烈地震。
1月12日，世界上最赤贫的岛国之一海地遭遇200多年来最严重地震，首都太子港大量房屋倒塌，总统府部分坍塌。

强震造成总统府、教堂、医院、学校、监狱和所有社区被严重损毁。海地首都太子港的街道上堆满了尸体。众多民众被埋废墟中，估计有大量伤亡。
海地总理马克斯·贝勒里夫(Jean-MaxBellerive)称，海地强震造成的死亡人数可能高达10万人。

贝勒里夫在接受采访时表示，地震造成的死亡人数最终可能“超过10万人”，

他说： “我希望这不是真的，因为我希望他们有机会(从废墟中)出来。...但是这么多的建筑物和小区被彻底震毁，在有些小区内我们甚至都没有看到人迹，我真不清楚这些人的情况。”

目前当局仍不清楚震后海地平民的具体伤亡情况。

When God gets us alone through suffering, heartbreak, temptation, disappointment, sickness, or by thwarted desires, a broken friendship, or a new friendship— when He gets us absolutely alone, and we are totally speechless, unable to ask even one question, then He begins to teach us......

As you journey with God, the only thing He intends to be clear is the way He deals with your soul. The sorrows and difficulties in the lives of others will be absolutely confusing to you. We think we understand another person’s struggle until God reveals the same shortcomings in our lives. There are vast areas of stubbornness and ignorance the Holy Spirit has to reveal in each of us, but it can only be done when Jesus gets us alone. Are we alone with Him now? Or are we more concerned with our own ideas, friendships, and cares for our bodies? Jesus cannot teach us anything until we quiet all our intellectual questions and get alone with Him.
