2. historical disaster : "Great flood/ 75 AD Pompeii/ 1883 Krakatoa/ "Black Death"...
3. disaster definition:
   > a serious disruption of the functioning of a community or a society.
   >causing widespread human, material, economic, or environmental losses
   >which exceeds the ability of the affected community or society to cope using its own resources.
4. what then does the Bible say about disasters?
   > disaster as Judgment
   > disaster because of Sin/ a direct result of living in a "fallen world"
   > disaster as a call to Repentance
   > disaster as a Warning
   > disaster as a Sign
5. types of disasters :
   > natural: sudden/ slow (famine, drought...)
   > man-made: human-instigated/ technological
   > complex emergencies
6. disaster management cycle

• a. rescure 救援：快、及刻 (hours/days)
• b. response/ relief 回应：仍在针对着灾难回应 ( days/weeks)
• c. recovery 康复：灾难的带来的问题/破坏渐康复(weeks/ months)
• d. rehabilitation 恢复：回到工作、生活( months/ year)
• e. reconstruction 重建：设施、城市...恢复规划 (years)
• f. mitigration 缓解：寻找原因、疏通、方案...
• g. preparationy预备：醒觉、面对灾难...
