close to the border with china.
a quiet mountain town and home to a great diversity of ethnic minority peoples, lived many local trades such as h'mong, dao and tay.
the scenery of the sa pa region in large part reflects the relationship between the minority people and nature...

summit hotel。the food in the hotel restaurant was included, it was excellent.

14/3/08，hanoi train station / 120 le duan street

夜班火车。往 lào cai 。
远远近近灯火闪过。梦中尽是貢隆貢隆声。
the hanoi-lao cai trains runs every evening, departing from hanoi train station at 120 le duan street.
three run at night, and one makes a day trip. the daytime route offers only hard seats.
whereas travelers will have soft-sleepers, air-conditioned, four-berth cabins on the night trains.
took about 10 hrs, around 6am, the hanoi - lao cai train stops at valley lao cai; 40 km from sapa.
in order to reach sa pa, we traveled another hour and a half through a connecting bus that arranged by summit hotel.

a majority of the street names here start with hang, which means merchandise or shop.
although the area is often called the 36 old streets, there may have actually been more.
some believe that the number 36 came from the Fifteenth century when there might have been 36 guilds.
others attribute the name "36" to a more abstract concept.
the number 9 in asia represents "plenty." 9 x 4 (the four directions) would make 36 which means simply: many.
